XIII Minutes: New Single “Panic”

From the very opening notes of "Panic," the track’s energy is undeniable. The jagged guitar riffs mirror a pounding heart, tying into the overarching theme of XIII Minutes’ brand new single. We got a sneak peak at the new track from the Oklahoma rockers, following their three powerful 2025 releases, “Stay,” “Fake” and “Who Told You.” Between the driving drums and thunderous guitars, this song shifts into full gear and gets you rocking straight out of the gate.

This is definitely the dawn of a new era for XIII Minutes. You hear the concentrated elements from Jamie Kucinski on the drum kit, ranging from the taps on the cymbals during the verses to the full use of the kit throughout the rest of the song. The guitars draw you back to the influence of Thousand Foot Krutch, RED, and Kutless, where those isolated strums practically force you to headbang along. This is John Watson’s first time leading the guitar writing as former guitarist Thomas Wheat stepped away from the band recently. Hearing the guitars on this song, it definitely sounds like John is fully capable of stepping in that role. The song gives me 2000s vibes between the effects on Jerrod Cunningham’s voice, the lyrical hook in the chorus and the well placed screams. The lyrics are themed to this war within us.

“I feel the strain within. Try to gain control. There’s a war in my soul. Two minds inside of me. I’m at war with a dead man. My head is caving in. Overcome by the panic. My heart pounds this split side of me.”

Often, we find ourselves trying to pick and choose which way we’re going in life. But then we also find ourselves struggling with the decisions we make, especially when it comes to our faith. The pressure builds, leading to panic. This song recognizes that struggle, but comes to the realization that there is a peace that passes all understanding.

We first had the opportunity to see XIII Minutes rock out at Uprise Festival in Shippensburg, PA last year and sit down with them as well. Every song they’ve put out has been better than the last! If “Panic” is any indication, there’s more to come from XIII Minutes and I’m ready for every second of it.
