To Fight For: New Single “Alive”
Do you ever wish you can go back in time and go down a different path? Are there moments you wish you could change? To Fight For’s new single, “Alive,” addresses these what-ifs and what it means to recognize that we can’t change the past, but look ahead to the future. Through Christ, we can truly become alive! We had the opportunity to interview Hal and Bobby and talk about this single. The guys shared their heart behind the song as well as the writing process that led them to what we have with “Alive.” We discovered To Fight For while scrolling through the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands. Hal and Bobby have a real passion and drive to share the Gospel, even in places some bands wouldn’t want to go. Earlier this year they released a single called “Holy Ground” and their latest single “Alive” is proof that they’re not holding back anything!
The song kicks off with the lyrics, “If I could take it all back, I wouldn’t hesitate. Deny my flesh, that is weak. Forsake society.” They start with a punch and keep driving it from there. It is incredible to think that this is coming from just two guys. Hal is on bass, while Bobby plays guitars and drums, with both contributing vocals. The breakdown between guitars, drums and keys just scream The Devil Wears Prada, especially something from either Dead Throne or Plagues. Meanwhile the chorus sounds like what we would hear from War of Ages. The chorus screams intensely with “If I could reach the sky. I wouldn’t wonder why. I feel left here on my own. Covered in all the lies. Can I feel you now? Reach into my life. I want to know what it’s like to feel alive.” The song is heavy, intense and it will get you head banging. The chorus is crisp, especially for being self-produced. If this is a sign of things to come from Hal and Bobby, the future is bright! I loved the single and can’t wait to hear more from this Nashville-based rock duo.
